A Fresh Start: Cultivating Peace in a Chaotic World
As we step into 2025, we are met with an overwhelming wave of global and national uncertainty. From media negativity to government upheavals and conflicts abroad, the energy around us can feel heavy. But in these times, it is more important than ever to create our own peace.
This year, let’s commit to unplugging, detaching, and reclaiming our wellness. Yoga teaches us the principle of Aparigraha, or non-attachment—the practice of letting go of excess, whether it’s material possessions, fear, stress, or even unhealthy relationships. When we embrace Aparigraha, we make room for clarity, calm, and purpose.
As you move into this new year, ask yourself:
What can I release to create more peace in my life?
How can I detach from what does not serve my well-being?
7-Day Aparigraha Challenge: Release & Reset
This month, we challenge you to let go of what no longer serves you. Take 7 days to release stress, clutter, and limiting beliefs—one small step at a time.
🌀 Day 1: Declutter your space—clear out old clothes, papers, or anything that feels like stagnant energy.
🌀 Day 2: Unsubscribe from stressful news sources and social media accounts that drain you.
🌀 Day 3: Let go of self-doubt—write down three affirmations about your strength and resilience.
🌀 Day 4: Release a negative habit or thought pattern—replace it with a positive ritual.
🌀 Day 5: Unload your mental stress—journal or meditate for 10 minutes.
🌀 Day 6: Set a healthy boundary—say no to something that doesn’t align with your peace.
🌀 Day 7: Embrace stillness—spend 15 minutes in Savasana (Corpse Pose), letting go of all tension.
Yoga Pose of the Month: Svasana (Corpse Pose) – The Art of Letting Go

Svasana is the ultimate embodiment of Aparigraha. In this pose, we surrender completely—physically, mentally, and emotionally—allowing ourselves to release stress and control.
How to Practice Svasana:
Lie on your back with your legs extended and arms relaxed at your sides, palms facing up.
Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths, allowing your body to soften with each exhale.
Mentally scan your body, releasing tension and letting go of any lingering thoughts.
Stay in this pose for 5-10 minutes, fully surrendering to the present moment.
Svasana is a reminder that we don’t have to hold onto everything—stress, expectations, or even the past. By practicing this pose, we embody Aparigraha, learning to trust, release, and simply be.

Book of the Month: Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey

This month’s featured book, Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey, challenges the toxic culture of overworking and urges us to reclaim rest as a form of resistance and healing.
Key Takeaways from the Book:
✔ Rest is a radical act of self-preservation. In a society that glorifies busyness, slowing down is a way to reclaim power.
✔ Unplugging is necessary for liberation. Stepping away from work, screens, and stress allows us to reconnect with ourselves.
✔ Rest is not a privilege—it’s a right.
As we move into 2025, let this book serve as a reminder:
In the infamous words of Paul D in Beloved, "Man ain't no axe, chopping, hacking, busting every goddamn minute of the day." Rest is your birthright!
Let’s commit to taking care of ourselves—mind, body, and spirit.
